You've survived cancer. Now let's make sure you actually get to live.

If your body feels completely foreign to you, if you're not sleeping, if you're being told "that's just menopause" and sent on your way, I want you to know this: you are not being dramatic. And you deserve so much better than this.

Living well after cancer is just as important as surviving it. You deserve health and happiness across every part of your life — your relationships, your work, your relationship with yourself. And trust that you know your body better than anyone. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

I lived this. That's why I do this work.

MY STORY

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 47. One week before my birthday. And what followed wasn't just cancer treatment — it was treatment-induced menopause, sudden and completely unmanaged, with almost no support on the other side.

I thought when active treatment ended, I'd start to feel like myself again. Instead, I felt worse. I couldn't sleep. The hot flushes were relentless. My joints ached. I gained 20kg. My brain fog was so bad that when I forgot words mid-sentence, a GP suggested it might be early dementia. (I was furious. And terrified.) My relationship with myself, and with my husband, was suffering in ways I didn't know how to talk about.

Before diagnosis I was fit, healthy, emotionally grounded. After, I was someone I didn't recognise. I felt like I was in my 70s when I was in my 50s.

It took four years, before I started to push and research and advocate and during that time I was always told no. No to HRT. No to proper explanations. No to shared decision-making. I tried acupuncture, changed my nutrition, cut out alcohol, read everything I could find. And eventually, nearly six years after diagnosis, I found a GP willing to work with me properly. That’s when things started to turn around.

Six years. It should not take six years. That’s why MACS exists.
— Sonya Lovell, Founder

I'm not a doctor. I'm not a psychologist. I'm not a cancer specialist. I am a woman who lived this — and refused to stay quiet about it. I have a Certificate in Cancer Wellness Coaching, hosted the Dear Menopause podcast (130,000+ downloads) for 3 years, I gave evidence at the Australian Senate Inquiry into Perimenopause and Menopause, and I've spent 15 years working in women's health and fitness. But honestly? The most important thing I bring to this work is that I sat exactly where you're sitting. I know what it costs to feel this way, and I know what's possible on the other side.

Live Well Sessions

3 Sessions · 60 minutes each

WHAT WE COVER

1. Where you are and what you need most. We start with what's happening for you right now. What's moved, what's still stuck, and what you want to prioritise first.

2. Your most pressing focus. We go deeper on what matters most — preparing for a GP appointment, navigating symptoms, relationships, returning to work, or something else entirely. This is your session.

3. Consolidation and what comes next. We look at what's changed, what you've learned about yourself, and what ongoing support looks like so you leave feeling genuinely equipped.

  • Speaking with Sonya has been nothing short of transformative. She is incredibly well-informed and articulate, bringing a depth of understanding about hormone replacement therapy after cancer treatment that far exceeded what I received from the three doctors and specialists I had consulted prior. With 'Sonya in my pocket,' I feel energised and confident to continue advocating for my own health and wellbeing. I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone seeking compassionate, well-researched support on their post-cancer journey.

FAQ

A few things people often ask

  • No, and I want to be completely upfront about that. I'm a specialist support provider with lived experience of menopause after cancer, 15 years in women's health and fitness, cancer wellness training, and deep knowledge of the evidence landscape. I complement your medical care, I don't replace it. What I do is help you understand what's happening, prepare for appointments, and advocate for yourself with confidence.

  • Yes. You don't have to wait until treatment ends. Many women find it helpful to get support and information during treatment so they feel prepared for what comes next.

  • Absolutely. If your treatment may lead to an induced menopause this support is designed for you to ask your questions and be prepared early.

  • This is one of the most common things women come to me with. A flat "no" without explanation or a proper conversation isn't good enough, and in many cases it's not the whole picture. I can help you understand the evidence, explore options, and have a more informed conversation with your clinical team. Every woman deserves that conversation.

  • Absolutely. If your menopause was triggered by cancer treatment — whether you're in active treatment, in remission, or years on — this support is designed for you.
